Raise a Toast to Drink Deliveries

A bright, sunny weekend and we’ve all started to dream of those warm summer days. It may have been February, but last weekend was a delightful reminder that spring is in the air. With the promise of good weather comes plans for picnics and barbeques with family and friends.

In a few months, we should be able to enjoy a long-awaited get together. That is an occasion for celebration and one which could be toasted with a range of drinks that can be delivered to your door.

Over the last year, an increased number of UK shoppers have purchased alcohol online. The lockdown closure of pubs, bars and restaurants increased customer’s willingness to buy drinks online. Being home to receive drink deliveries added to the convenience.

Having looked online, it is clear that there is greater variety compared to the supermarket shelf. Along with the major drink suppliers, such as Slurp, many microbreweries and distilleries offer online deliveries. The choice has encouraged consumers to try something new.

Changing Tastes

A Waitrose survey, shared in The Grocer has identified increased support for British goods. This includes English and Welsh sparkling wines, locally brewed beers and distilled spirits. Aylesbury Box Company would like to champion a few of our customers:

The Cronx Brewery

Based in Croydon, The Cronx Brewery produces Independent Beer Award (2019 & 2020) winning beer. Their online shop sells cans and kegs and they also run a monthly Beer Club for subscribers.

Micro Beer Crate

Micro Beer Crate champions independent micro-breweries. This company sources beers and ciders that are produced in the UK, on a small scale. Operating with a limited capacity, it is difficult for these breweries to fulfil the quantities required by supermarkets and off-licenses. This doesn’t mean that they are not delicious!

A Micro Beer Crate order provides the opportunity to try something more unusual. They have personally sampled and enjoyed all of the drinks they stock. Having got to know their suppliers, they can also tell you a little more about any of the breweries.

What would your delivery box contain? The company also offers a Micro Mystery Crate subscription. Choose a recurring monthly, quarterly or twice-yearly delivery through their subscription service to benefit from a 5% discount.

Low & No Drinks

The other significant development that the survey recognises is a growing interest in ‘low and no’ alcohol drinks. Waitrose reports an increase of 22% sales of these beverages from 2019 to 2020, with no sign of it being a passing trend. It seems that our health is of growing concern, coupled with a growing range of tasty low and no beverages.

In a recent drinks packaging article we showcased our customer, Low & No Drinks. In addition to reduced alcohol, they also offer a wide selection of low calorie, gluten-free and vegan alcoholic beverages. If you are catering for all dietary requirements, their online shop is worth a visit.

The Real Kombucha

One of the drinks served on the Low & NO Drinks website is The Real Kombucha. As an alcohol-free alternative to wine, this is a classy drink that will tantalise the palette. Designed to be the perfect accompaniment to fine dining, their two flavours could be ideal for designated drivers and health-conscious guests.
