Social and environmental sustainability underpins our strategy and operations. We have always sourced FSC® certified virgin materials but following a rigorous audit in 2021, Aylesbury Box Company achieved FSC® Certification.
What does FSC® Certification Mean?
Every member of our team receives training and resources, so they understand their role and responsibilities in embedding sustainability into operations, customer interactions, decision making and personal actions. Achieving this globally recognised standard means we can evidence our high social and environmental values.
Many of our customers are also conscious of their impact. This certification provides assurances that we can support their environmental goals. Working with us ensures that green credentials can be traced back through the supply chain.
Sustainable Packaging
Resources used in the production of printed cardboard packaging, such as wood and water, are finite. To achieve FSC® Certification, we had to evidence our responsible use of these resources. With a focus on the circular economy, we optimise the use of recycled and recyclable materials to reduce the demand for raw materials.
Our cardboard boxes are typically 80% recycled and 20% virgin fibres, although we can supply 100% recycled packaging. Our processes minimise offcuts and damaged boxes, but these are collected and recycled; ready to be made into more boxes!
What does the FSC® do?
The global certification programme is one element of the wide Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) remit. As a not-for-profit organisation, they promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. This includes protecting the people who live and work in the forests, as well as maintaining biodiversity and wildlife corridors.
They have initiated positive environmental action across all continents and are an organisation that we are proud to be affiliated with.
