Do Cardboard Tubes Provide a Better Packaging Solution than a Box?

Rolling up paper or textiles is a good way to minimise the risk of the item getting creased. This is why posters, maps and other large paper prints are typically packaged in a cardboard tube. It’s also why there are fans of rolling, rather than folding your clothes when you pack for holiday.

A cardboard tube also makes a secure and practical packaging option for cylindrical bottles and jars. You might purchase a selection of chutneys, an expensive bottle of whisky or a branded cosmetic product in cardboard tube packaging.

They are also ideal for long slender items that might get damaged or broken without the protective packaging. Such items might include fishing rods, artists paint brushes or saplings. The need to provide robust packaging for such items has risen with the growth of online purchases. The goods need to remain in pristine condition during storage, despatch and delivery.

Then there are consumables like biscuits and sweets. Smarties may have switched to a hexagonal box, but many confectionery companies use cardboard tubes, especially for gift boxes. With a growing move away from plastic packaging, we could see more consumables in cardboard tubes in the future.

What Cardboard Tube Lines do we Offer?

If cylindrical packaging could be ideal for your product range, Aylesbury Box Company offers a number of options. The standard cardboard tube can be produced in brown or white and a full range of dimensions.

A high resolution flexographic print can be laminated onto the tube to create the design you are looking for. Alternative options include foil printing a logo onto the tube. For companies looking to minimise cost, applying a clear, acetate sticker to a plain tube can give a good quality finish. We have also worked with customers who have stamped their logo onto a plain tube to good effect.

Reusable Packaging

One of the delights of using cardboard tube packaging is that your customers can have so much fun when the product has been delivered. With a little imagination the tube transforms into a pirate’s telescope, a trumpet or the start of a marble run. I’m sure there’s scope for an office Christmas party game there too!
