Packaging for Start-up Business

At Aylesbury Box Company, we love to play a part in getting e-commerce companies ready for business. We’ve recently delivered the first order of packaging for start-up business SF1 Strength for their fitness and conditioning training equipment. What makes their product unique and what were the packaging requirements?

How to Build Strength & Fitness on the Road

For athletes and those in the military, following a high-intensity training schedule is essential for optimising performance. However, easy access to gym equipment isn’t always possible. Often away from home, how can you maintain an intense core, chest, shoulder, legs, back and arm workout?

Having been frustrated by not finding a solution, Tony Hayes decided to develop one. He’s invested considerable time and energy into the product development and it has now been launched!  SF1 Strength is portable equipment, enabling you to train when, where and how you want.

“As a security consultant, I was spending long periods at sea. There was no gym on the ship to maintain the fitness regime I’d developed during my military career. I couldn’t find any suitable fitness products on the market, so, I began designing my own with materials found on board.”

– Antony Hayes, SF1 Designer

How Does it Work?

His webbing straps and adjustable handles are straightforward to set up and provide an intense upper-body workout. It is adjustable, making it suitable for people of varying abilities and heights. It can aid those in rehabilitation or starting their fitness journey, as well as being suitable training equipment for pro athletes.

Unique and robust, military and gym testing have proven SF1 to be a great way to maintain strength conditioning workouts. The design has been granted a patent and is already being used by UK Special Forces for training. Discussions are underway with the Royal Marines, along with opportunities in the US.

The SF1 trainer is now being sold online, direct to customers, sports coaches, personal trainers and gyms across the UK. In addition, Tony has signed a BEAVERFIT UK partnership, taking the product straight to the American market.

Low-cost Packaging for Start-ups

When it comes to packaging, SF1 Strength comes with a mesh bag for transportation and storage; however, packaging was required for shipping online orders. This is where we could assist.

Whilst Tony intends to provide premium boxes in the future, he needed a low-cost packaging option at this early stage in the business. After requesting quotes from several packaging companies found on the internet, he requested samples from us.

His product is offered as entry-level, medium or full equipment, depending on the number of handles included. Ideally, he would like three different sized e-commerce boxes, however, for now, he was sticking to one. This meant void fillers for boxes with fewer handles, so we’ve supplied a low-cost, recycled and recyclable brown paper filler solution.

“Aylesbury Box Company have been great from the start. The service has been outstanding. With the next order, I plan to switch from brown to white boxes and I’ll also talk to them about producing a premium quality sleeve. I want the packaging to be spot on, but a low-cost, simple printed option is a sufficient starting point.”
