Delivering the Spirit of Christmas

It will soon be time to put up the lights, decorate the tree and get the festivities in full swing.  If you are looking for new editions to your collection of adornments, check out Bethlehem Baubles.

This company is embracing the spirit of Christmas by working with both Muslim and Christian communities in and around Bethlehem. Artisans from both faiths are involved in glass blowing and painting, in order to produce these beautiful baubles. These fair trade items come with an annual design, with painted silver stars being the feature for the 2018 collection.

Packaging Handmade Glass Decorations

Considerable work goes into producing each individual bauble, so the company want to ensure that it doesn’t get broken in transit. With respect for the artists and the recipient, they need to be confident that this fragile product looks as good on the day it is unwrapped, as it did when it was carefully packaged.

As the glass decorations are being shipped from Bethlehem to the UK, the small postal boxes need to be sufficiently robust and protective for long-distance transportation.

Corrugated Cardboard for Protective Packaging

There are many advantages to using corrugated cardboard for packaging. The corrugated sheet is held rigid between two flat liner sheets. This combination forms a strong material, which is ideal for packaging, shipping and stacking. Whilst sufficiently robust to offer a good layer of protection, corrugated cardboard has some flexibility, which helps to protect goods from damage.

Corrugated cardboard is also lightweight. This is a desirable asset, as it helps to keep shipping costs down. What’s more, the flat liner sheets are simple to print, allowing a company to add their own branding or design to the packaging box. In the case of Bethlehem Baubles, we have used a black print for the company name and designs including a city silhouette.

Box Fillers

With fragile items such as glass baubles, the addition of filler materials helps to secure the items and provides additional protection. Aylesbury Box Company always strives to minimise the environmental impact of packaging, so we offer alternatives to plastic or polystyrene fillers.

Bethlehem baubles have chosen to use straw, due to its association with Christ’s birth in the stable. If straw isn’t suitable to your product range, shredded cardboard strips, cardboard inserts or insulated Woolcool lining (made from sheep’s fleece) are some other filler options.
