Imagine rich dulce de leche cushioned between melt-in-the-mouth biscuits and coated in chocolate, icing sugar or coconut – is your mouth watering yet? Known as Alfajores, 6 million of these sweet indulgences are sold in Argentina every day! So, how had we not heard about them?

Fortunately, Argentinian-born Maria has brought these heavenly delights to the UK. What’s more, she’s added her own twist to this traditional treat. Evoking memories from her childhood, her Alfajores introduce fabulous ingredients and flavour combinations, including Malbec and Yerba Mate. Are you ready for a new taste sensation?

Maria is a professional chocolatier, with over two decades of experience working in luxury hotels and specialist chocolate shops. Having mastered her craft, she knew it was her time to shine. Therefore, she set up Sur Chocolates. This has provided the opportunity to showcase her creativity and identity as a taste profile inventor. And, you won’t want to miss out!

Not surprisingly, her artisan chocolates are in demand from wholesalers, corporations and online buyers. For this reason, she needed e-commerce shipping boxes!

Maria is keen to support the small business community. This means she sources Fair Trade ingredients from local producers whenever possible. Such decisions also contribute to minimising carbon emissions, ensuring traceability and sustainability.

A desire for sustainable packaging means that Sur Chocolates are sold in aluminium tins. These look great and are infinitely recyclable. When she contacted us to discuss her requirements for shipping boxes, sustainability was a priority.

Fortunately, we could tick a few boxes:

1. We are a local packaging company, based just a short drive from her premises
2. We are an FSC® certified packaging company, that can evidence our efforts to minimise environmental impact and support supply chain sustainability
3. Our cardboard packaging is manufactured from a high percentage of recycled material and is 100% recyclable after use
4. We proactively advise on ways to optimise packaging to minimise waste or excess material

In addition, we could supply e-commerce packaging with self seal strips, which makes it quicker and easier to pack and send orders.

At this stage, Sur Chocolate opted for plain boxes that were the perfect fit for their tins of treats. And, these are already being used to package and send online orders. Next, we will be discussing the ideal dimensions of larger shipping boxes for wholesale deliveries.
