What’s the Best Packaging Design?

We often see articles and posts showcasing the ‘best packaging design’. Typically, these include stylish graphics and a clever novelty feature. Yes, we can appreciate the skills of the designer and manufacturer, but would this work for your products? So, in this article, we’re exploring what defines good packaging design for your brand and products.

Bespoke Boxes and Custom Solutions

The first point is that an off-the-shelf box, bottle, packet or tube is unlikely to provide a best-fit solution. Unfortunately, we speak with many people who have opted for a low-cost, bulk buy and then spent over the odds on void fillers, postage and refunding damaged goods. They assumed that bespoke boxes and custom solutions would exceed their budget, yet they could be more cost-effective.

It doesn’t matter if you are a start-up or an established enterprise, whether you sell B2C or B2B, the best packaging design has to tick lots of boxes.

  1. It has to effectively protect your goods in transport and storage
  2. It must be easy for your packing team to handle and not cause problems in your warehouse
  3. Your customers must find it secure, yet easy to open
  4. Design & print is used for practical and/or aesthetic purposes to achieve a positive brand association
  5. The environmental impact should be minimised
  6. All this has to be realised within budget

So, before we recommend the best packaging design, we want to understand your products. How they are shipped and stored?  In addition, we’re curious about your customers and your packing process. As a result, we can recommend options that work!

As such, we’ll inform you if alternative options will minimise waste, reduce the weight and/or lower the costs of your packaging solution. We find there is often a way to improve a design without compromising on quality.

Our tips are tailored to you and in most cases, you’ll speak to the same person in our team in every call, meeting or email. That’s because, we believe this delivers the best customer experience.

The Best Packaging Design First Time

Our initial solutions are usually close to the mark, but we don’t always achieve the best packaging design the first time. For that reason, we send all customers a sample box before manufacturing the full order. Samples ensure that you can:

  • Check the production and print quality
  • See if there are any issues with assembling the box
  • Test the packaging offers sufficient protection with drop and squash testing
  • Get feedback from colleagues and/or customers

Then you can come back to us with any tweaks that are required to make this the best packaging solution.

  • A print solution that would meet the brand’s commitment to being 100% Vegan
  • Avoiding the factory floor being littered with small packaging push-outs
  • Creating an appealing print finish for a budget-conscious small business

So, if you are frustrated about existing packaging solutions why not see if we can help?
