Having invested time in researching and blending three herbal infusions for a new Wellness Collection, attention turned to the packaging. Mother Cuppa founder, Candice Mason, was keen to have beautiful custom boxes when launching her new tea range. Let’s find out more.

Introducing Mother Cuppa

Drawing on her interest in the benefit of natural botanicals and plant-based teas for self-care and healing, Candice trained with the UK Tea Academy as a Tea Sommelier. This gave her the skills and confidence to source and blend a range of ingredients, known for their positive impact on women’s health.

Already a successful businesswoman, Candice began to develop her Wellness Collection. These bespoke blends are designed to optimise the health and well-being of women. In mid-life women often lack energy, struggle to sleep or feel dehydrated. These are the issues that Candice looked to address and the result is the first range of caffeine and calorie-free Mother Cuppa teas.

This new range has only just launched, but the customer feedback is already favourable:

The Power of Natural Healthcare

Plant-based treatments are nothing new; for centuries, women have been growing, harvesting and using herbs, flowers, bark and other plants for their health benefits. What’s more, many modern medicines, skin creams and other self-care products include natural plants.

Designing Custom Boxes

Bespoke blends demand custom packaging with a unique and appealing aesthetic. Candice wanted the full customer experience to be tasteful and appealing to women. Beautiful boxes, with a crisp, fresh style add to the sense of self-care that her target customers deserve.

At present, Mother Cuppa is only sold online. So, mindful of convenience, Candice was looking for letterbox-friendly shipping boxes. It was also important that the ethical values that underpin Mother Cuppa were reflected in the packaging design. That included ensuring that all packaging materials, including tags, tea bags and boxes, were recyclable and biodegradable.

Collaborations with a graphic designer led to stylish concepts for the tea boxes and shipping boxes. The next step was to find a packaging manufacturer.

Local Packaging Company Offering Custom Boxes

Candice was keen to use a local packaging manufacturer and she made telephone enquiries to get an initial feel for the service offered. She then met with three businesses to talk through her ideas. She felt that Aylesbury Box Company gave her the most in terms of time, grasped her vision and advised on packaging design solutions.

The intention is to scale the business, so the chosen packaging company would have to be responsive to higher volume orders. A local company would improve the chances of building a good relationship and as Aylesbury Box Company are a short drive away, all the boxes were ticked.

Packaging Design Collaboration

The project involved a collaboration between the founder, graphic designer and box manufacturer. Each inputting suggestions to help make the vision a reality. Candice felt that Helen and the team made excellent contributions, which, on reflection, have elevated the quality and finish of the boxes.

The process wasn’t always smooth, but everyone stuck with it, sorted out the issues and created packaging that looks the part.

From the offset, sales have been strong and the packaging and product are featured in Tik Tok unboxing videos. Candice reports significant positive feedback on the packaging, which is helping to market her products.
