Packaging for a New Retailer
Aylesbury Box Company has recently had the pleasure of delivering an order of printed cardboard boxes to a new retailer in Henley-on-Thames.
This beautiful town is famous for its Royal Regatta and if you are looking for a delightful place to visit for a staycation, Henley will not disappoint. Benefiting from a riverside location, Henley is full of independent shops, cafes and art galleries. One of the newest additions is Calvert Jones, a contemporary home and gift shop.
Introducing Calvert Jones
Drawing on a background in buying and retail, the launch of Calvert Jones has been several years in development. Having found the ideal location in Hart Street, Sue and her husband opened the doors in September 2020.
Their selection of homeware, gifts, plants and cards have been sourced from small producers in the UK and Europe. Everything got off to a positive start with local residents and visitors.

Selling online had not been part of the plan, however, when the country went back into lockdown, this was a necessary step. Sue already knew our Account Manager Helen, so she got in touch to discuss packaging requirements.
Where to Start with Packaging Design
Packaging design was new territory for this fledgling company. Sue had seen a box that worked well and knew she wanted a simple print design to personalise the cardboard packaging. As a small business, they only needed to place a small volume order. Sue wasn’t sure if any packaging supplier would be interested, but she provided us with the dimensions and requested a quote.
With Sue’s budget in mind, we suggested a few adaptions to improve the spec of the Calvert Jones boxes. When we delivered the printed cartons, she was pleased.

The majority of online orders have been for click and collect items for locals, but there has been interest from customers located further afield. Through the summer months, the town sees an influx of visitors and Calvert Jones is looking forward to welcoming many more customers through the door.

Whether goods are bought in-store or online, the new boxes further enhance the great service that is appreciated by customers. A branded box is exciting to receive and looks good enough to gift without wrapping.
