Delivering Sustainable Packaging Solutions
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This simple concept has had a significant impact on the packaging industry over the last decade.
As specialists in the design, manufacture and print of cardboard packaging, Aylesbury Box Company is passionate about supporting our customers to achieve their sustainable packaging goals. Rather than simply supplying boxes, we take time to understand the products, our customer’s customers and the company values. We can then advise on ways to:
- Reduce the volume of packaging without compromising the protection and presentation of goods
- Use design and/or print to encourage the reuse of packaging
- Stick to purely cardboard packaging or use easily separated materials to increase recycling rates
A Vision of the Future
As consumer pressure encourages more companies to reconsider their packaging design, we are keen to help them make sustainability a priority. One example is our work with HTC, the company renowned for experience design.
There’s nothing like lockdown to illustrate the importance of technology. Remote meetings, online training, home schooling, online shopping, entertainment and communication with family has all been possible thanks to tech. As restrictions are lifted, many of us will continue to work, study and socialise at home. Our adoption of technology will make this viable.
One of the companies at the cutting edge of digital advances is HTC. HTC Vive VR headsets have helped many people dive into new worlds. Virtual reality devices are also playing a crucial role in practical training, design planning, travel and education. As well developing technology of the future, HTC was keen to future-proof their packaging.
Easy to Recycle Packaging
HTC for this specific project required a packaging solution which didn’t combine cardboard & plastic materials within the finished product enabling the product packaging to be easily recycled.
The company made it a priority to create a product packaging solution from a single material, which can easily be recycled by their customers. They opted for cardboard, as the recycling of cardboard within Europe is well established.
HTC approached Aylesbury Box Company to design a recyclable packaging solution for an asset-recovery project. This would be managed through their flagship virtual reality service centre in Romania.
Helen, an experienced Aylesbury Box Company Account Manager, met with the HTC regional service team to discuss requirements, present solutions & suggest potential enhancements. She showed that Aylesbury Box Company’s design and manufacturing team had the capability to meet HTC’s requirements and goal aspirations.
With Helen leading the project, we successfully exceeded HTC’s expectations within a tight project time frame. This packaging is now part of HTC’s European operations.
Reliable Packaging Manufacturers
As a result of Helen’s high level of engagement, this was not the end of the line for HTC and Aylesbury Box Company, as they identified another project that needed our attention. Working with HTC, we created a standardised packaging solution that can be used across their service network to securely ship customer goods within the European Economic Area (EEA).
“ABC’s staff were able to transform a concept idea into a finished product, not just meeting our expectation but exceed that expectation. Where ABC see an opportunity to enhance a solution, they will suggest it, which is incredible valuable from a team who design all kinds of bespoke packaging solutions. Many design companies will happily provide precisely what the client specifies, ABC go that little further & suggest tweaks which enhance the overall finished solution.”
– Leslie Teague, HTC
