Committed to Recyclable Packaging
One of the recent packaging design projects we have worked on is for an Oral Health company. Georganics produces natural and sustainable toothbrushes and toothpaste. Their products contain no plastics, no synthetic chemicals and no toxins; just naturally sourced ingredients.
With an ethical approach, the company has also adopted a minimal waste approach to packaging. They send zero waste to landfill and they are keen to support their customers to do the same. Primary packaging takes the form of glass jars with aluminium lids, both of which can be reused and recycled. Other items are wrapped in compostable papers.
Finding the most Suitable Packaging Solution
When Georganics approached Aylesbury Box Company for packaging boxes, they were keen to include a stylish print in the packaging design. They presented us with an image to be printed on the inside of the boxes. This adds to the sense of delight when customers open the box to reveal their purchases.
In its original format, the design was highly detailed and we would have needed to use lithographic print in order to replicate it. We could have run with it, but with a clear understanding of the manufacturing process, we could see that there could be another option.
Another Printed Packaging Option
If their design could be simplified a little, it would be possible to use a flexographic print process. This option would still create a strong image, yet would result in lower cost packaging. It would also mean a shorter turn around time on all packaging orders. We provided the team with colour samples, so they could see the strong contrast that could be achieved between the box and the print.
With a clearer understanding of the processes, finish and cost, Georganics opted for single-colour flexographic print on the inside of their packaging boxes. With this solution, the brand image is well-presented and the end result has a natural feel. As we use vegetable-based inks, the print doesn’t compromise on their values. The cardboard boxes can still be recycled at the end of use.
As a box manufacturer, we are keen to use our expertise to provide customers with options. If they can provide us with a clear vision of what they want to achieve, we can advise on the different processes that can be applied. Each solution has its advantages and our approach is to help the customer to make an informed decision.
