Are you fully confident about what packaging can be recycled?
Research conducted by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) suggests that at least half of us regularly bin recyclable materials in the general waste. This suggests that there is still confusion about what packaging materials can be recycled and what can’t.
In 2009, the On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) was launched. This not-for-profit organisation works with retailers and brands to promote the value of consistent messaging on product packaging. Whether it includes an instantly recognisable icon or written information, printed packaging helps to change behaviours around recycling.

Many of us are keen to do the right thing and reduce packaging waste. According to the latest European Consumer Packaging Perceptions Survey, 88% of UK shoppers want environmental information to be printed on product packaging.
Responding to this request is particularly important for retailers and brands which are targeting Millennials and Generation Z. Over 50% of these younger shoppers reported changing brands last year, due to environmental information. If you want the competitive advantage, complacency is not an option.
