Boxes to Light Up your Home
In this article, we’ve focused on lighting up the dark days. The clocks have changed for winter and that means dark evenings, but let us showcase two brands which can light up the winter months; Serious Brands and Hill & May. They also happen to be two companies that we manufacture and supply packaging for!
Task lighting from Serious Readers
Serious Readers design and manufacture high-quality floor and table lights. Specifically designed to closely replicate natural light, they provide bright task lighting. Designed by founder Alex, who had struggled to find a suitable light for his mum when her eyesight started to deteriorate, Serious Readers are now widely recommended by over 500 independent opticians.
The table lights can be positioned on a desk for work and hobbies or beside the bed for reading. Floor lights are designed to be positioned behind your chair or sofa, providing an overhead beam to aid reading with clarity. Both feature energy-efficient LED lights and are designed to alleviate eye strain.
In addition to providing effective task lighting for the home, Serious Reader lights are ideal for anyone who works on detailed projects. They are used by professionals including jewellers and watch repairers.
Serious Readers are a long-standing packaging customer for us. Both businesses are located in Aylesbury and we’ve worked together to design, develop and brand shipping boxes. The packaging for these high-quality lights had to provide suitable protection for what is a weighty product. It is essential that the lights arrive in pristine condition.
A selection of recent Feefo customer reviews for Serious Readers suggests both product and packaging hit the mark:
“A great light. The order went through very quickly and the light arrived beautifully packed.”
“Great product, made in the UK. Great quality, design and service. Lights were really well packed and delivered when promised.”
“Excellent product and service. We have bought from Serious Readers before and now have three of their lamps. The light came on the day we requested, within a week of ordering, and was carefully packed, with very simple instructions.”
Hill & May Lampshades
Frustrated by the limited choice when seeking lampshades for lighting up their homes, two creative makers set to work crafting their own. They learn the technique and sourced beautiful fabrics and trims that perfectly suited their home interiors. The level of interest from family and friends led them to consider a business venture and Hill & May was launched in 2017.
Lamps create a subtle, ambient light, which adds a warm and cosy feeling to any room. They are perfect when you don’t want the whole room lit up. Through the day, a decorative lampshade adds to the interior décor; it’s a great way to add colour, pattern, texture and personality to your home.
Hill & May use upcycled silk saris and block-printed fabrics from Jaipur. These are used to create pleated lampshades in a range of colours and styles. The lampshades range from 15cm to 50cm and fit onto standard lamp bases, so they are an easy way to update the look of your room. The company also supply a range of lamp bases which work perfectly with their lampshades.
Aylesbury Box Company supplies printed shipping boxes for the lampshades. The company wanted branded boxes without paying a premium. We suggested a single white print on a kraft box, which is effective, yet low-cost.
