Locally Crafted Beer
We are getting into the festive spirit and always love low carbon initiatives, so were delighted to read about Box Steam Brewery in Wiltshire. This December, the brewery is delivering casks of beer to local pubs on a reindeer drawn sleigh; fairy lights and all.
Not all beer will be delivered in such style, yet good quality ales aren’t the reserve of Wiltshire. The majority of festive celebrations will involve raising a glass or two and the current trend is to stock up on sparkling wines and locally crafted beers.
Artisan Beer Revival
Last Christmas, alcohol sales increased more than grocery sales. Part of the reason was put down to a growing preference to spend a little bit more for a higher quality tipple. We are actively seeking out artisan products to mark a special occasion.
The good news is that our search for something special can lead to some delightful results. Since the Progressive Beer Duty was introduced in 2002, the market has opened up to small breweries. These independent producers have been keen to restore traditional recipes, as well as getting innovative with new flavours. All in all, it’s resulting in the reinvention of beers.
The number of independent breweries is growing year on year and this provides us with choice. Locally brewed beers are increasingly being sold in nearby pubs and restaurants and breweries have stalls at farmers markets and local beer festivals. It all adds to the sense of community.
With the right packaging, artisan beers also make the perfect gift. So if you are stuck for what to buy dad, why not head off to your local brewery and stock up on supplies?
Beer Packaging
Aylesbury Box Company is working with a number of local breweries to provide the perfect beer packaging. The glass beer bottles and our cardboard packaging are the ideal combination to deliver beer in top condition.
What’s more both can be recycled once emptied, so let’s end where we began; with a low carbon, festive spirit!
