Sustainable Packaging Design
If there was one message to come out of this year’s Packaging Innovations exhibition, it is that the appetite for sustainable packaging is stronger than ever. Consumers and retailers are actively seeking out brands which demonstrate a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of consumerism.
Not so long ago, bigger was better when it came to packaging. Small items were wrapped in layer upon layer of packaging material to achieve eye-catching displays to attract buyers. That approach would now anger and repel shoppers.
We are delighted that almost all of our customers raise the importance of sustainable packaging as part of their requirements. Aylesbury Box Company has helped many to reduce the volume of packaging they require. We also offer commercially viable solutions which help customers to eliminate plastic packaging elements.
A Business Built on Sustainability
What is the difference between a company that packages their product in a recyclable cardboard box and one that underpins every decision with environmental considerations?
Whilst switching to cardboard packaging is a step in the right direction, it doesn’t fully embrace the environmental ethos. For several of our customers, aims to reduce carbon emission and minimise waste drives every decision.
Sebo is one such company. Established in 1978, this German vacuum cleaner brand is committed to responsible manufacture. Initially, the company specialised in commercial cleaning solutions. Their machines were designed to outperform and outlast the competition. They proved very popular in the hospitality industry and are apparently the machine of choice at The Ritz!
Since 1991, Sebo has also been producing domestic cleaners. The brand retains its reputation for build quality, performance and longevity. In addition, Sebo aims to achieve the most favourable energy rating and efficient performance from their machines.
The design team even consider the size of the cardboard carton that will be needed to package the vacuum clear, spare parts and filter bags. If subtle changes will ensure that the product can fit into a smaller box, they will be made.
The Sebo factory is self-sustaining in terms of electricity. As an example, they use capture heat from the generator to keep the factory warm. Rainwater harvesting has helped to lower water use and everything that can be recycled is recycled. This includes the cardboard boxes that we supply as packaging their vacuum cleaners.
Product and Packaging Design
If you are working on sustainable packaging design, a chat with Aylesbury Box Company could help you to reduce packaging waste and make cost savings.
We may be able to advise on alternative packaging options which you may not have yet considered. Rather than cardboard boxes, maybe flat wrap or triangular postal tubes could offer the protection your products need?
Green Credentials
Aylesbury Box Company has also made a conscious effort to reduce our environmental impact. In addition to manufacturing a recyclable product, changes such as switching to energy-efficient light bulbs have lowered energy use in recent years.
