At the end of 2022, we delivered the first order of branded e-commerce packaging to Slycker. They launched their website in December and were soon fulfilling orders in time for Christmas.

Introducing Slycker

Slycker specialises in stylish and responsibly sourced shirts for the casual golfer. Founders Ollie and Dom thoroughly enjoy spending their weekends on the putting green, but they are happy to admit they are far from professional golfers.

In their experience, the golfing attire was primarily aimed at professional players. Enjoying a friendly round, the brothers didn’t feel the need for performance-driven clothing. Furthermore, most items are made from non-biodegradable fabrics like polyester and are not something that you would wear anywhere but the golf course. They saw an opportunity to design a different option; classic, comfortable and ideal for the casual player.

Slycker golf shirts prioritise the green credentials. They are responsibly sourced and knitted from 100% organic cotton in Portugal. This country was selected, as it has a strong textile industry that produces quality products. Choosing organic cotton means ethical production, protected ecosystems and action to improve soil health, all of which contribute to sustainability.

The company have launched four shirt styles and all would be just as appropriate in a pub or swanky restaurant as they are on the fairway.

Naturally breathable, cotton is airy in summer and provides a warm base layer in the colder months. It is washable, durable and non-allergenic, especially as no chemicals are used in the production of organic cotton. You’ll find it soft and comfortable against the skin, with room for you to make an impressive swing, hopefully!

Slycker Packaging Design

When it came to the packaging design brief, environmentally responsible solutions were a must. Ollie and Dom searched for packaging companies that could offer recycled and recyclable postal boxes. As an FSC© certified company that also prioritises sustainability, we were able to meet that requirement, but that wasn’t the only reason we got their order.

Understanding the importance of the customer experience and relationship with the brand, the slimline postal boxes were printed. The outside features typography; the company name. When opened, their snake wrapped around a golf club logo is revealed. The shirts are carefully wrapped in tissue paper, which, like the box, is 100% recyclable and biodegradable.

Initially, all orders will be made online, so the packaging is integral to the buying experience. However, the company have plans to find UK stockists, so discussions will be had about whether to provide the branded packaging to retailers. We wish them every success in expanding their reach and encouraging more golfers to wear sustainable shirts.
