Showcasing Printed PoS Displays
Last week the FESPA Global Print Expo was held in Berlin. A showcase of colour, this event shares developments in screen, digital, textile, signage and printed packaging.
When it comes to changes in the industry, the exhibitor feedback reflects our own experience. Consumers are making an increasing number of impulsive buying decisions. Research suggests around three-quarters of shop purchases are influenced by in-store marketing, advertising, signage and promotions.
To attract attention and engage with this potential market, brands need to offer their products in a personalised, relevant and timely manner. This has to be regularly updated in order to maintain interest and boost sales.
Packaging and PoS Display Requirements
We’ve recognised this shift in our customer requirements; there has been growing interest in printed packaging and bespoke packaging designs. There have also been more requests for lower run volumes and tighter turnaround times.
Printed corrugated cardboard PoS displays are relatively low cost, quick to assemble or take apart and recyclable. They can be print finished in a variety of ways and provide the ideal solution for transient promotions, product launches and short-term displays.
Printed Window Displays
As an example, Aylesbury Box Company recently worked with a leading fashion brand to create temporary window displays. With stores across the country, it was important that a consistent look could be achieved in every shop window. The printed displays also had to be easy to transport, quick to assemble and recyclable after use.
We created flood printed cardboard plinths, in a range of matt finish, pastel colours. They were manufactured in varying dimensions, to ensure that they would provide visual appeal in the shop windows. We arranged for the flat-packed prints to be delivered for arrival at every store on the same day. The retail teams could then assemble the display in synchrony, for a consistent brand image across the UK.
Once assembled the printed displays are robust. They are also straightforward to take apart and recycle a few weeks later, when the replacement display is prepared.
Printeriors Design Competition
The Lounge area of the FESPA Global Print Expo provides plenty of inspiration for print design. Winners of the Printeriors and Arts Thread competition had the opportunity to showcase their print designs on furniture, flooring, walls and soft furnishings.
The winners indicate that we can expect to see bold, multi-layered colours, metallics and tactile textures in print design. With embossing, foil blocking and a range of print processes, all of these are possible on printed packaging and PoS displays, as well as interior design.
