Donating Cardboard Boxes for a Local Cause
The growing demand for online deliveries has kept the Aylesbury Box Company team very busy in recent weeks. As online sales soar, so does the demand for cardboard boxes. It is great to support local producers, pubs and restaurants pulling out all the stops to bring food to the doorsteps of those who are self isolating and vulnerable.
For many families, the current situation has thrown them into temporary hardship. Businesses have closed. Employees are being furloughed, made redundant or losing clients at a rapid rate. Company owners are waiting for financial support. Not everyone can afford to order online. For many, the prospect of not being able to put food on the table has become a reality.
Food Boxes Helping Aylesbury Residents
Fortunately, organisations such as Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse are on hand to provide practical support in our community. This is one of Aylesbury’s foodbanks, who have supported thousands of local families in recent years. Unsurprisingly, there has been a surge in requests for help in the last month.
Around 90% of the food, toiletries and children’s clothes that they give out is donated by residents and supermarkets in our town. Tinned food, rice and pasta are some of the many items that are requested in appeals. If you would like to help, visit the Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse Facebook page for the latest requests.
The donations are collected, sorted, prepared into food packages and distributed by dedicated teams of volunteers. So much amazing work going on behind the scenes in our town.
Aylesbury Box Company is delighted to support this vital local service. When the rise in demand left them looking for supplies of cardboard boxes, we stepped in. Our donation of packaging is one part of a well-coordinated process which is helping our neighbours to get through tough times.
Our thanks goes out to all of those who are working extremely hard to provide care, support and comfort to others in their hour of need.
