The standard base colour for all the cardboard boxes we manufacture is kraft brown or white. So, are brown or white postal boxes the best option for your brand? Let us help you decide.
The Benefits of White Postal Boxes
White is the absence of colour and it is connected with purity, cleanliness and peace. As a result, we find white boxes are often specified by brands selling skincare and toiletries, goods for babies or medicinal products. It’s minimalist, light and a blank canvas that can let your product or branding shine.
If you want printed packaging, opting for white boxes is the best option for achieving a match with your brand colours. That’s because it offers a neutral base for the application of print.
However, it is important to be aware that any scuffs or marks that occur during shipping and handling are highly visible on white postal boxes. As a result, the delivered box may not look as pristine as when it left your packing station.
Also, a plain white box can look sterile, so we think it’s a great idea to add at least one other colour print to the boxes to add interest and personality. As every colour goes well with white, you have a full range of options, from subtle hues to a contrasting, vibrant tone.
The Benefits of Brown Postal Boxes
Brown is the colour that forms from blending all other colours. It is associated with earthiness, nature, stability and dependability. It has been traditionally been used for gardening products. However, with more brands looking to showcase their sustainability credentials, we’ve seen it adopted across all industries.
The issue with brown boxes is that they are a little dull, especially as they are so commonplace. We have to agree that the manilla brown of cardboard boxes isn’t the most exciting of tones, yet it has a down-to-earth, wholesome quality. What’s more, it just takes a little print detail to give your boxes character and set them apart from the multiple other deliveries that arrive on the doorstep.
You could flood print your boxes with a deeper tone of brown, including dark coffee or reddish chestnut. We recently printed a beautiful rich brown with a slight purple tone which looked very sophisticated. Equally, we find that white print on brown postal boxes can achieve great effects.
Cheapest Cardboard Box Branding Option
We offer plain brown or white boxes at the same cost and you’ll get the best prices for orders of 250+ units. If you want to add branding, the most cost-effective options are:
Ordering branded tape – this serves the dual purpose of sealing your boxes and adding your logo and/or a message. We sell paper and plastic tapes for reliable packing performance.
Flood printing the box with a brand colour – this requires no tooling and completely coats the surface. It can be applied to the inside or outside of the box, or both.
Single colour flexographic print design – this does incur an initial charge for tooling, but no additional cost for future orders as the printing plates are stored for reuse. You can achieve surprisingly great effects using the base and one other colour.
