Your sweet tooth kicks in. You hunt through the cupboards in the hope of uncovering a hidden snack, no joy. You weigh up whether it is worth driving to the shops. If only a box of treats could be delivered to your door…
This scenario inspired a new business venture. Pick & Mix London started as a crazy idea to set up an online sweet shop that could be delivered across London using Deliveroo. The concept was for orders to arrive at customers’ doors within 15-minutes. Craving satisfied!
Motivated to give it a go, the two founders set to work finding premises, meeting food hygiene requirements and ordering stock. What seemed like a huge quantity of treats needed restocking within a week, so they knew they were onto something. The next step was creating the Pick & Mix London website.
This was back in March 2020. Little did Pick & Mix London know that people would be forced to stay home for months. The need for a pick-me-up to get through the lockdown meant the launch of the business couldn’t have come at a better time.
Bespoke Packaging Bringing Joy
There is no way that the childhood delight of pick and mix can be packaged in plain brown boxes. The vision was for resealable sweet pouches in bold, unmissable, printed boxes. The look would be fun; instantly taking customers back to their childhood.
As well as colourful, the packaging needed to be sufficiently robust to protect the goodies and look good when they arrive at customer’s doors. They also wanted sustainable packaging; responsibly sourced, delightful enough to reuse and suitable for recycling.
Having explored a few packaging manufacturers that were too corporate and expensive, Co-Founder Will gave Aylesbury Box Company a call. In talking through the requirements, we were able to offer advice and simplify the design and manufacturing process. The result is fabulous printed packaging.

Onwards and Upwards for this New Venture
The popularity of Pick & Mix London continues to grow. To meet demand, they now occupy 7 locations across London Zones 1 & 2 and are also delivering to happy recipients across the country (next day delivery). The sweets have been a popular choice for family movie nights, birthday parties and as a way to treat the grandchildren. To personalise gifts, there is also the option of including a message in the boxes.
